前置詞を極めろ！

TOEICの問題集をやっているとどうも前置詞が弱い！ 随分、以前に買って使った英語の文法書Advanced
Grammar in Use With CD ROM をひっぱりだして、再度、勉強を始めた。この際、しっかりとまとめを作ろう。これで前置詞が極められたらいいけど。前置詞と、広辞苑によると「ヨーロッパ後で、名詞・代名詞の前に置いて、その語の同士に対する文法的関係（特に格関係）や意味的関係を表す品詞。時間・空間関係を表す物が多い」とある。日本語の「て、に、を、は」とは違うのだろうか？ 少々違う。日本語で「てにをは」はどこでどう使うのか説明するのは、難しいけれど、感覚的にわかる。英語は…。とりあえず、ケンブリッジ大学の文法書でしっかり学ぼう♪

A. at は時のある点、もしくは、点として捉える時の期間とともに使う。

| ■ 短期間の休暇のあいだ。例えば、クリスマス、イースター、週末（the weekend)などとともに |

| ■ 点として考える他の短い期間、たとえば、「the end of January(1月の終わり)」や「the
beginning of the year（年初）」などとともに。 |

| ■ 食事時間とともに、たとえば、朝食や昼食や夕食などと。 |

| ■ 「when it is night（夜であるとき）」、や「each night(各々の夜)」意味するときにnightをともなって。 |

しかし注意すること the middle of....をともなって、in
を使う。そしてある特定の夜について話すときは、in the
nightを使う。 |
