1 電話応対
| 電話で話すのは、日本語でも聞き間違いを犯しやすい。特になれない英語での場合、緊張したり、うまくしゃべろうとリキんだりして、会って話す時の数倍、意思伝達が難しくなりがち。 大事なことは、リラックスすること、あわてないこと（電話を取って急に英語が聞こえてくると、びっくりして、大慌てしてしまいますが、深呼吸でもして、気持ちを落ち着けること）、相手の話をよく聞くこと、文法を気にしてうまくしゃべろうなんて考えないこと、よく確認をとること。 |

| AHT | Yamada Animal hospital. May I help you? | 山田動物病院です。どうしましたか？ |
| McDonnel | Yes. This is Ron McDonel. I'd like to see Dr Yamada as soon as possible. How soon can I get an appointment? | ロン・マクドネルです。できるだけ早く山田先生に診てもらいたいんですが、いつ予約がとれますか？ |
| AHT | Please hold while I contact the doctor. | 先生と代わりますので、このままお待ちください。 |
| Doctor | Dr. Yamada here. What's the matter with your pet, Mr McDonnel? | 山田です。どうしましたか？ |
| McDonnel | My dog has a broken bone and a bite.They seem to hurt. I think he needs adequate treatment as soon as possible. | 私の犬が骨折して、噛み傷もあるんです。とても痛むようです。できるだけ早く適切な処置をしてもらいたいんですが。 |
| Doctor | OK. My clinic is open from 6PM. It's about 1 hour later. Can you bring your dog until then? | わかりました。午後6時から診察が始まります。あと、1時間くらいですが、それまでに犬を連れて来れますか？ |
