Love, Your Only Mother
Middle-angle

"Love, your only mother..." she always find this scrabble at the end of postcards she received from her mother who left her and her father all of sudden when she was a little girl. Since then she has received sixty-three postcards from her mother in various places, one was with a picture of a wheat field, another with a clue where her mother might be.

Whenever she received a postcard from her mother, she looked into atlas to find out exactly where her mother was, but all of her effort always turned in vain.

It is very strange that she kept receiving postcards from her mother despite of moving several times. How did her mother know that she had moved, and get her new address ? What is her mother's purpose ?

According to her husband, by receiving postcards from time to time, at least she knows that her mother is still alive, which is a good thing.

On the contrary she has been suffered from receiving those postcards for such a long time. She has been with uneasiness because of her mother's shadow. She has been irritated at one-way communication. She wants to be free from her mother's shadow.

She smells and senses her mother through pictures or scrabbles in the cards. The feeling is so real that her mother, her only mother, always seems to be around her.

Faithful Mother

The postcard I recieved today from you had showed a wheat field bending in the wind, Mother. I imagined you were hiding the farmar's house in the distance from the wheat field.
You left behind me and my father when I was 7 years old.
First time I got your letter, my father called the police to find her. We thought the postmark on the card was where you were, but you weren't.
The postmarks on them meant nothing.
You have been wandering, however you've been keeping on sending me letters no matter where I moved.
I don't know how you found my place. This is a sort of thing that you are always faithful to me.
You always wrote 'Only your mother' on the end of the line. I wonder what you mean.
I put the all letters from you into the box and mark the place of the postmarks on the atlas.
I have a husband and a daughter. If I went to somewhere I would come back.
Why you haven't. I want you to come back.
I want to make me believe you are dead, but I can't.
I could feel your voice and your being by my side.

Love, Your Only Mother

My mother always sent me a postcard. I got another one today.
She left me and my father when I was nine years old. I 've always followed her image whenever I received a postcard from her. I never knew where she was. The postmark meant nothing. She wandered around and at least I knew was she was still somewhere in the atlas. I felt, in the postcard, she was hiding and tried to find her, of course I always imagined, it was a kind of game.
Distances between us were not problem. She found my place somehow every time I moved.
I would think it's better you were dead. But another postcard would come with another message.
The end of the message, she wrote "your only mother" at all times. I really didn't know what she implied in those words.
In the middle of night on summer, I smell all the places she had been. I am obsessed as if she was here.
Mother, I want you to come back so badly.
